Gossip girls
You can’t find anything like Gilmore Girls.Quick-paced and charming.Real and catchy.Blemish-free face and imperfect characters. From high school bookworm slash weirdo and her complicated mother-daughter relationship to romance being mostly dysfunctional, we heard witty dialogue and reference with all the fast-talking. Between small-town quirky folks and old money, we felt hilarious yet strangely comforting. There are so many conflicts and explosions throughout the show, along with dozens of heart-warming stories. Together, it brings along a whole lot of drama and reminds me and my family. Emily the blue blood control freak & faithful wife with lifelong loyalty: I am most connected to, and my mom seems to be.Lorelai the indecisive true love believer & open-minded modern mommy: I like and wannabe.Rory the immature trust fund baby & well-educated hypocrite & double standard cheater: I understand but hate to be. And Finally, Team Jess all the way.
I am crazy about Rory Period.
LORELAI: Sold. So, we are holding a Knit-a-thon the day after tomorrow to raise money to rebuild the old muddy river bridge.CHRISTOPHER: What's wrong with the bridge?LORELAI: Well we rebuilt it a couple years ago, but now it's started to rot.CHRISTOPHER: Oh yeah.LORELAI: Yeah, it's too bad, too, 'cause it was gorgeous. We all loved, loved, loved it. It was sturdy and strong, made out of this beautiful Japanese maple – which it turns out is exactly the kind of wood that attracts beetles, and I'm not talking British-invasion kinda Beatles. I'm talking the kind of beetles that like to eat wood. So now we're gonna make it out of a less-delicious wood.9" LORELAI'S HOUSE – LIVING ROOM[Lorelai is knitting on the couch]LORELAI: Good morning.CHRISTOPHER: Well, good morning, Madame Defarge.LORELAI: Good morning, Mr. "I remember stuff from English class in high school."CHRISTOPHER: Can I ask how long this Mr. "Long sentence of words strung together" thing is gonna last?LORELAI: I'm not sure, Mr. "Doesn't understand "the more annoying you tell me a bit is, the more I want to do it."CHRISTOPHER: Look at you, knitting away, just like a proper married lady the picture of domesticity.LORELAI: Ha ha ha."Madame Thérèse Defarge is a fictional character in the book A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens. She is the wife of Ernest Defarge and a tireless worker for the French Revolution. She is arguably the main villain of the book, and ruthlessly seeks revenge against the Evrèmondes, including Charles Darnay, his wife Lucie Manette and their child for crimes against her family. These crimes include the deaths of her sister, father, and brother.Symbolically, she represents one aspect of the Fates. She knits, and her knitting secretly encodes the names of those people she will have killed. Look you already gave us "wolf girl," which, I mean, ah? How do you top that?RICHARD: We insist.LORELAI: Dad we're already married. Isn't it too late?EMILY: No but soon it will be. We need to get on this right away.RICHARD: We don't want it to look as if there's anything to be ashamed of here, if we don’t through a party who knows what people will think?LORELAI: Why don't you give us an anniversary party? Ha like a 10th? Wouldn't that be nice, honey? I mean, what is 10 -- bronze, sandstone, particleboard?RORY: Actually, it's tin.EMILY: But that's not for 10 years.LORELAI: Giving you plenty of time to plan. And you're like, hey, his heart should be in his chest, and the surgeon's like, dude, I'm not done yet, get out of the operating room!4LORELAI: Hey, uh, help! Fire! Fire! We're on fire down here, help! Flames crackling, marshmallows toasting, save us!LUKE [coming down the stairs]: What are you doing yelling 'Fire'? You can't do that.LORELAI: No, that only pertains to(相称于,适合)movie theaters. Crowded ones. You're watching a Wednesday matinee(周二的廉价电影) of Deuce Bigalow, you can yell 'Fire' all you want. Hell, you can start a fire a no one will complain.Toasted or roasted marshmallows (marshmallow:a kind of confection, 药属葵, 药属葵蜜)A popular, traditional treat in North America (Canada and the USA) is created by toasting marshmallows; usually over a campfire or other source of open flame. A marshmallow is placed on the end of a stick or skewer and heated briefly. This creates a caramelized outer skin with a liquid, melted layer underneath. According to individual preference, they are heated to various degrees—from a gentle toasting to igniting and burning the outer layer. Either the toasted marshmallow can be eaten whole or the outside layer can be consumed separately and the marshmallow toasted again. S'mores are made by placing a toasted marshmallow with chocolate between graham crackers.3You're going to be one of those weird old people who hordes(游牧,收藏) empty film canisters(罐子)and laundry measuring scoops.2Rosie O'Donnell plays a retarded woman who's obsessed with riding the bus and Andie MacDowell is her uptight(极端保守的,经济拮据的), big city sister.1Well, at least try to pare(削减) this box down a little, please?
"Nancy Botwin (Weed) seems to be Lorelai Gilmore’s long lost, drug dealing sister." Anyone? :-)"(Aaron) Sorkin is often presented as one of the auteurs of modern television, an innovator and an original voice. But he’s more logically placed in a school of showrunners who favor patterspeak, point-counterpoint, and dialogue-driven tributes to the era of screwball romance. Some of this banter is intelligent; just as often, however, it’s artificial intelligence, predicated on the notion that more words equal smarter. Besides Sorkin, these creators include Shonda Rhimes (whose Washington melodrama, “Scandal,” employs cast members from “The West Wing”); Amy Sherman-Palladino, of “The Gilmore Girls” (and the appealing new “Bunheads”); and David E. Kelley, who created “Ally McBeal” and “Boston Legal.” Sorkin is supposed to be on a different level from his peers: longer words, worldlier topics."
Sometimes the whiteness of this show just gets a bit too much. I don’t entirely hate it. It’s very pro-femisim, which is rare for a 00s TV show, but I lowkey feel the Gilmore girls are Karens sometimes: egocentric and annoying in their own ways with privileges taken for granted while the whole town blindly favors them regardless of the situations (several outsider characters’ remarks on the town being a “cult town” actually feel true). The show tries to depict Lorelai and Rory as small-town working class but they benefit from all the upper-class resources through Lorelai’s parents, and needless to say how problematic her parents are…This kind of setting feels like cheating in some ways as it conveniently makes the privileged characters more down-to-earth and relatable. It’s also kind of disappointing to see how many white girls online idolize Rory and the show. And again an Asian girl, Lane, is trivialized despite she has the same potential as Rory, and of course she has a stereotypical tiger mom. Even Paris’ character is trivilaized though she seems to have an interesting back story as well. I get that the show is about the Gilmore girls but it goes to an extent that everything seems to be about them and everyone is supposed to empathize with them. The perspetcive is too unilateral, becoming a little tiring to watch after half a season. ps.
尽管到后来他们有严重的anger management和communication issues (and the unconsented makeout scene?), 但前期暧昧还是很好磕。
Girls,Girls,Girls.Lovely Girls.
too utopian to envynot good
